While working on Exploriso, developing a true novelty—at least at that time—was the integration of high quality colour management processes, usually only to be found in highly economised offset printing. Developing these unique colour profiles, we integrated them into own publishing practice and offered them for purchase.

Since setting up an own practice can be challenging on one’s budget, we decided to offer the colour profiles for free for upcoming projects, self-initiated or commercial. Need help using them? Look here for advice on converting the images, and here for saving them.

As a little heads-up: these profiles were developed roughly four years ago, therefore we cannot take any responsibility for the final outcome, but are sure that a risograph printer of your choosing will offer top-notch advice. Four colour profiles

Yellow, Flourescent Pink, Blue, Black

The closest we got to print faux CMYK just yet. Four colour profile using Yellow, Fluorescent Pink, Blue and Black. A true beauty we printed Colour Suite sheet no. 8 with.

Three colour profiles

Red, Blue, Yellow

A true three-colour-workhorse reproducing almost every colour possible in real multi-colour fashion. One of the best profiles in our own opinion, even works good with darker images. Used to separate colour suite sheet no. 3

Red, Blue, Green

Printing RGB on a Risograph? That’s possible now… (lol just kidding.) — This profile works best with dark images that don’t need yellow or orange tones to be recreated. Used to separate colour suite sheet no. 11

Yellow, Fluorescent Orange, Teal

A quite interesting three colour profile that can beautifully reproduce warm tones; the younger sibling to the Red-Yellow-Black profile. Due to the use of teal, it can display colder tones, although it might lack absolute dark colours. Used to separate colour suite sheet no. 3

Fluorescent Orange, Fluorescent Pink, Teal

A magnificent profile that is able to display beautiful red, orange and pink tones, as well as darker tones. Interestingly enough, it’s not too bad with neutral, grey tones (when printing teal over pink). Used to separate colour suite sheet no. 18

Blue, Yellow, Teal

A three colour profile for colder colors, nature and landscapes in blue, yellow and teal. While the profile appears very rich, the capabilities of it are quite limited since a warm primary is missing.

Blue, Fluorescent Pink, Yellow

As the red-yellow-blue combination, this three colour profile is capable of separating almost anything. It lacks the black separation which can be interesting when you want to save ink.

Two colour profiles

Red, Green

A two-colour profile to reproduce red and green colours. Complementary colours help reproducing gray tones.

Red, Yellow

A two-colour profile to reproduce warm, red and yellow colours. Darker shades are not possible unfortunately.

Yellow, Green

A two-colour profile to reproduce yellow and green colours. Might be just fine to print daisy flowers. 🙂

Red, Black

A two-colour profile to reproduce red and black colours. Printing darker shades of red could be well possible.

Fluorescent Pink, Teal

A two colour profile to reproduce fluorescent pink and teal. It seems to be strong in printing shades of grey with warmer or darker greys.

Fluorescent Orange, Teal

A two colour profile to reproduce fluorescent orange and teal. It seems to be strong in printing shades of grey with warmer or darker greys.

Blue, Yellow

A two colour profile to reproduce blue and yellow images. It also seems suitable for green tones, but lacks orange, red, etc.

Blue, Gray

A two colour profile to reproduce blue, gray and everything in between. Not capable to print anything »warm«.

Black, Grey

A personal favorite when it comes to two colour profiles, the perfect profile to separate rich greyscale images to grey and black. Was used to print the publication Strangers Taking Taxis In Tokyo.

One colour profile

Black

A mono colour profile to separate images into black. We never really used it.
