Reprogramming a colour drum

What happens quite often is that a newly acquired colour drum is storing a colour assignment on the EEPROM (the drums very own read-only memory), that is not identical with the colour to be used.
The solution to this is to start the test mode of the risograph with the following steps describing this procedure: (for devices of the MZ, RZ, RN, RP and V series)

1
Switch off the Riso with the newly installed colour drum / cartridge with the main switch and ignore any error messages that may appear.
2
Start the machine and, during startup, hold down the two position adjustment arrows horizontally towards the first print drum. Now the device starts the test mode.
3
An error message may appear. It can be removed by pressing the Cancel button.

MZ- / RZ-Serie:

4
Enter the code 117 via the numpad and press Start to reset the drum.
5
Enter the code 890 via the numpad and press Start to transfer the cartridge colour information to the drum. The right colour drum has to be selected at this point if the device has more than one drum.
6
Turn the device off and then on again, press the position arrows horizontally once more to restart the test mode. If no error code is displayed, the drum is reprogrammed.
7
Enter the code 887 via the numpad and press Start to begin the ink distribution. As before, the selecting the right drum is crucial. After the ink distribution is completed, you will hear a long beep sound. If the device should interrupt the ink distribution, it has to be restarted.
8
Restart the device by pressing the main power switch and use the Duplo Press test charts to recolour and print until the desired colour impression is achieved.

Enter the code 557 via the numpad in order to print test pattern 050, which uses the most colour and can thus display the new colour the fastest.5Use the overlay of test pattern 050 or a Duplo Press test chart to recolour until the desired colour impression is achieved.
